Casting Skulls from Plaster
Difficulty Rating:
I forget where I originally ran across the article online, but, I needed more skulls last year. So, i decided to make a latex mold, and cast some skulls!
Materials Needed
- A skull to cast from (I bought a nice one from AAC)
- Molding latex - can be found from any craft supply place, such as Michaels, where I got mine.
- brushes - to put the latex on the skull
- Plaster of paris - as much as I hate the french, their plaster works great.
I don't have many photos for this now, being over a year later, but, here are the steps to follow.
- Take the skull out of it's wrapping that it came in (oh, the box too)
- take your brush, and smear a whole lot of latex on the skull
- wait until it is mostly dry
- take your brush, and smear a whole lot of latex on the skull
- wait until it is mostly dry
- take your brush, and smear a whole lot of latex on the skull
- wait until it is mostly dry
- take your brush, and smear a whole lot of latex on the skull
- wait until it is mostly dry
- take your brush, and smear a whole lot of latex on the skull
- wait until it is mostly dry
- take your brush, and smear a whole lot of latex on the skull
- wait until it is dry
- peel the many layers you have put on off the skull
And you have this...

- make up some plaster of paris, and get it coated thick to the inside of the skull
- wait until it is dry
- peel off the latex mold, and you're done.
Mine came out kindof crappy, but, here they are anyways.

Fin.
